Level 3 Teacher Guide, Part 1 – Pilot Edition

The Level Three Teacher Guide, Part 1, is the go-to guide for guidance, instruction, and planning for teachers in grades 3 and above using the Literacy Essentials curriculum. It includes overviews for the year, semester, and week, as well as detailed daily lessons. The Part 1 volume contains the introductory material, instructions for adapting the program for use with older students, and weeks 1-10 of daily lessons. This volume is a companion text to the Level Three Teacher Guide, Part 2, and the Level Three Copy Masters, which are purchased separately.

Why is this volume listed as a “Pilot Edition?”

Hillsdale College’s K-12 Education Office is working in conjunction with the curriculum authors at Access Literacy, LLC to introduce the robust, beautiful, and easy-to-use Literacy Essentials curriculum. Beginning in the summer of 2019 we launched pilot editions of the kindergarten curriculum and beta editions of the curriculum for grades 1-3. We have updated the curriculum from beta to pilot by one grade each year, finishing in summer 2022 with the release of the Level Three materials. As we receive feedback from teachers, we aim to replace pilot editions with final versions soon. While we are still improving the Literacy Essentials curriculum, all pilot versions are ready to use in classroom and homeschool environments.
